I've been pretty lax on caring for my hoyas for the past month or so, due to my brother's illness and passing. Unfortunately I also lost some cuttings:-(. Anyway I was surprised this morning when I found several blooms on my Krinkle 8 and also big buds on my lasiantha! I'll post pictures of my lasiantha once they open.
Blessings,
Awanda
November blooms part 2
purty blooms! the hoya queen of the desert slacking??? for shame! LOL glad to see that you're making it back into the gh and your eden.
Heartfelt Sympathy to Awanda regarding the passing of your brother, and to Susancva on the passing of your Mom.
Our plants do suffer when difficulties arise and our thoughts and efforts are elsewhere. I only have a few hoyas but lots of other plants and they all suffered when my Mom passed a couple of years ago. I was traveling back and forth to South Florida to help take care of her and would be gone 2-3 weeks at a time so things here at home got neglected for quite awhile. Plants are pretty forgiving sometimes though, so I hope yours will begin to show signs of flourishing in the coming weeks and months.
Blessings,
Lin
Awanda and Susan, my condolences on the passing of your brother and mother. I lost my Mom in October also.
Lin, I had almost the same situation with the care of my Mom, making the drive from north AL to FL and back for five months. My plants suffered, but not having them would have left me desolate. Now the challange lies in bringing them back to pristine condition!

Awanda and Susan - my condolences on your losses. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Awanda and Susan, you have my condolences on your loss. You are both in my thoughts and prayers.

Susan, my guess is that you have a H. calycina. I got a cutting from Ann last year and it is a great plant. God bless, -joanne
That sure is a pretty one! And, you say it's fragrant? I've got to look that one up!
Joanne,
Thanks for your ideas. I googled for H. calycina, and found this site with pictures, but the leaves look to be shiny. I don't know much about this site, but it claims to have correct ID. What do you think?

The leaves on H. calycina are VERY fuzzy. It is one of my favorite "petable" hoyas. Ha. The leaves are almost like African Violet leaves only sturdier. It is very much like H. australis only with the very furry leaves. The flowers are supposed to be ffragrant..(I can't say..mine hasn't quite bloomed yet)
Well....that website tries to make IDs correct...but like all things hoya...some mistakes do happen! LOL. Yes, it IS H. calycina and it is very fragrant.... Nice bloom!!!
Susan, Hoya calycina is shiny AND hairy. It sounds weird, but it is true. You really notice it when using a flash.
Here is a new bloom for me...H. globulifera. Actually the corollas are almost black they are so dark...and the corona a deeper red than the photo. So far the bloom has lasted a week. No scent that I can detect.... Edited to say that the tiny hairs on the corolla reflect the light and the depth of the color changes...

That's an awesome bloom. The red looks like little candies!
Lovely photo, Carol. What does the rest of the plant look like?
Well...it is small and I am underwhelmed with the foliage so far!!!
Beautiful little bunch. Carol, can you post a picture of the leaves or whole plant?
Cool bloom! Really cool super sized to see all the 'nuances'!
