I don't have a pond... I have a fish tank that's loaded with planaria. I clean it but can't even make a dent in the numbers. Why I've come here is because I'm sure some one here knows something about the organism that's in mosquito dunks: Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israaelenses.
Do you think they'll help get rid of the worms? They're soft bodied and the larvae are little darty things, nympths?

Planaria
CaptMicha, when you clean your tank do you syphon the water from the bottom of the tank? When I do a water change I push the plastic tube down into the gravel to syphon the water and I am suprised at the amount of cloudy material I get out of the gravel. I do know mosquito dunks do not kill all organisms in the pond.
Not so much. I have this substrate that's a pain in the you know what and when I try to really get down into it, it all wants to come up and out the siphon.
I really want to change it but it looks nice and the plants LOVE it.
It's the aqua garden clay soil stuff from Home Depot.
I read your hyperlink again. It has alot of good information in it. I personally would follow their advice before you kill your fish. If your plants love the aqua clay garden soil you could pot the plants in a clay pot with it and put the whole thing back into your tank and use regular aquarium gravel for the rest of your tank so that you would be able to clean it better.
Kill my fish???
I'm assuming she means with the excess ammonia levels, which would certainly kill your fish eventually. I wonder if there's something at petsmart (or the like) that could kill it by starving it out like a nitrifier or anti-ammonia treatment? I know nothing about planaria...just thinking out loud for you!
