I got mine yesterday and there's an article on hoya in there. When you look at the resources page to see where to buy them AlohaHoyas is on the top of the list. Cool, huh?
Plant Profile
All STARS OF THE INDOORS
Unusual, easy to grow hoyas may be the perfect houseplant
by Ellen Zachos
Horticulture December-January Issue
Definitely cool, and maybe a big BOOM for business for those on the list!
Not exactly a good time of the year to be telling people to order hoyas, though!
Stupid question - Is Horticulture Magazine regularly sold at most news stands?
I don't subscribe and I can't say that I've ever seen it on news stands around here.
Can I find this article online, or do I have to buy the magazine?
Thanks.
Gabi
I don't know about the stand thing but I don't think so. Gabi, I'm not sure if you can without a subscription. I'll check it out and if it's possible I'll copy and paste the article here.
Gabbi, I think you will have to buy it. The article has some very pretty pictures and will probably help to put Hoyas on the map. Horticulture is probably the preeminent gardening magazine in the United States. The author gives a top 10 list of her favorite Hoyas, and even has a Hoya tattoo.
Doug
I think Doug is right. They send me all kinds of on-line extras but I can't seem to access the articles from the magazine itself.
AH...someone else mentioned that to me and I hadn't a clue. Ellen Zachos is well known.
So...Stella, can we have an addy to buy a copy????
Here ya go Carol.

Thanks Stella. Now to convince them I am not one of the 10 Most Wanted because I only have a P.O. address!!!!
Carol
I wonder if you can buy this one at Lowe's or Hastings? Anyone seen it there?
I found it at a local supermarket's news stand!
If I found it there, it must be virtually everywhere:)
I will look in more stores. They didn't have it in Borders.... Push come to shove, can someone photocopy it for me ? Will pay postage. But let me look a bit more....
Carol
Carol,
I'm really surprised that Borders didn't have it. It is the December/January 2008 issue so I would think that it will be out for a while longer. I work in a library, and we have it here. I would think that you would want the real issue since you are mentioned prominently as a supplier. If you can't find it, dmail me and I would be glad to send you a photocopy of the article.
Doug
Thanks, Doug! Hawaii, especially this side of this island, is a bit 'special'. Will let you know.
Carol
Susan,
I think only the back issues are $8.00. I doubt that the newstand price could be much over $4.50.
Doug
If I recall correctly, the price on the magazine where I saw it was $6.99 (it might have been $5.99, though, as I looked at a couple of other related magazines at the same time) - I looked at the article, but I didn't buy it.
Going over to the other side of the island today with house guests (Nightbloomer and DH) and as they have more money over there, will look for the magazine....lol. We po' fokes over here can only buy auto and girlie mags.!!!!
Oh Carol, you're a hoot! Gave me a little giggle there!
Got it at our Hastings, nice magazine. I am interested in aloes and agaves and it has articles on both too! Glad you posted this. Thanks.
I looked for the Horticulture magazine while I was out running errands today but didn't find it. Will be looking again tomorrow. I am interested in the Hoya article.
I went to their website, didn't find the hoya article but this one caught my eye. About an indoor garden a guy in N.Y. has in his apartment. I've never seen anything like this but it is so neat. I would love to have one in my house! Plants growing on the walls! Pretty cool!

Lin,
That was a really cool article.
Thanks,
Doug
HI...I would love a copy of the article. Just back from Honolulu and couldn't find it anywhere... Looked on line and read they ship the magazine via UPS if outside the Mainland. Funny...to lots of people Hawaii is another planet and one cannot get here from anywhere without spending gobs of money!!!
Thanks in advance,
Carol
Carol,
I'll send a photocopy out next week. It won't be in color, but it will be free.
Doug
