a medical chicken saddle

Antrim, NH

So Irene has been worrying herself bloody on her back. I tried vaseline, neosporin, and liquid bandages to help her stop. My husband suggested one of those cones, like you put on a dog. Instead I sewed her a little chicken saddle to block off the injured area. Voila!

Is she keeping it on?
I find it funny that some animals can adapt to wearing "clothes" so easily. All 8 of my dogs wear coats in the winter, all day. They never try to take them off.

Oh she hates it, but I can't have her with holes in her skin and bloody! She'll get used to it.

How is the saddle held on?

Pretty good actually. She's sort of gotten over it. Sometimes it slips to the side a little, as it isn't super tight. I don't want to impact her crop in any way ( ihave the strap below the crop)

so, she's healing. I brought one of the silkies in to keep her company and give her an idea of what she is supposed to be doing.
