NO GARAGE - Need Storage Ideas for pots and Garden stuff

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Hi,
I have 5 gallon buckets, garden pots in all sizes, bags of potting mix, fertilizer, mulch, and tools, etc., and NO garage for storage. We are trying to get the yard in some kinda neat order, and I could use your pics for neat storage ideas.

P.S. We actually HAVE a garage that the DH has packed from front to back, side to side, and ceiling to floor....this would be the DW's project.....

Build a shed... that is what I had to do - build a shed.

May I see your shed that you built?

Just a store bought one... nothing fancy. 8 by 8 looks like a little barn.. I would have built bigger but couldnt afford it.

Home Depot (and probably Lowes) has a fairly nice size shed made by Rubbermaid. Might go on-line and check them out. Probably in the $200. range. It comes in big box. Just snap together type thing.

Very true - and easy.

If it going to be outside storage, you could buy fence panels and build a corral for them. You could fix up a potting bench in it also. My DH cut a shop table and added hinges so my dirt pan is down inside. I also found that Kingsford charcoal tubs make great dirt and media storage bins. I am fortunate to have an inside place, but it would work outside too.

Oh, I've been looking for something like those charcoal tubs. Where did you get those, Sheila? Are they waterproof?

Yes, they seal really well, made to keep the charcoal dry. They are made to stand up of course, and have a handle on one side. But it made a great storage for the soil and vermaculite that I mix in my potting table with the tilt. I found them at Lowes for about $12 ea; well worth it to me.

Yeah, gardeners sure do collect a lot of big bags of things! These sound perfect. Thanks!

we have the rubbermaid shed --got it at sam's i think--i like it --looks kind of cute and my son was able to put it up (not that easy for us who are not handy but by others standards might be easy!!) keeps out the rain don't know how warm it would stay as far as storing plants but i use it for the tools, etc i wonder if those companies that sell sheds lower their prices this time of year? i always think they have such neat wooden ones that look like little cottages!

Gym, all you need is a long piece of duct tape....stick it down the middle of the garage and tell DH, 'That half is yours and this is mine'. It worked for me... LOL

When I moved into his home 2 years ago, I brought my stuff in a POD. It sat in the driveway for 89 days and cost $700 worth of charges...Then, he cleaned out 1/4 of the garage (that's 1/2 of 1/2 of the garage) and told me I could put my stuff there...I haven't mentioned his garage since....But, he'll understand when he shows up one day and my storage unit is sitting in the yard....

LOL! Gymgirl, I know just what you mean! Only problem is, I have a rock band stationed in my garage.
