Serendipty in the dark

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Last week we got our first frost and we cut most of our Brugs to the ground. Serendipty had several canes and I took the biggest ones that had pods and left the rest. She was under a Redbud tree and was not touched by the frost so I came home to this tonight. This Brug seems to love our heat and has not failed us yet.

What a treat! So pretty and such a nice classic lil standard... Love it!

Lovely blooms! My Brugs lucked out last week. The temperature got down to 35ºF, but my greenhouse wasn't ready to put the Brugs into it.

That is a Brug beauty! I bet that was fun to find when you came home. It is amazing what the frost doesn't get:)))

She's a pretty one, ain't she, Ken?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Nice. Is she darkest in the summer or the fall?

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

I have only seen her in the Fall. She is planted where she get lots of Texas sun and always grows 6 to 8 feet tall. She has never been real dark but she will bloom when other Brugs are shutting down from the heat.

Seems to be darker in the summer for me, but not by much if I remember correctly. I think she generally stays a nice medium pink. This is my first full year of blooms with her, though, and our fall has been very warm (we're still bouncing around in the upper 70's and 80's with the occasionaly dip a little lower for a couple days).

I'm glad you are warm down there. We are getting our first snow right now. It's pretty, but cold. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!

Well, we are getting pretty nippy for Turkey Day - lows in the 40s (maybe upper 30's!!) and highs on the 50s!!
