She's a Beauty! Mine got hit by a little cold snap we had last week, so it's not looking so great right now. I'm hoping with a little TLC, that in a couple of months I can having it looking as good as yours!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

African violets grown from a leaf are always prettier to me in shape and size than the ones I buy. This South Shore Rose.

Very nice Gail! All beauties but I love Orchid Trail and also Snuggles LIttle Dreamer! Is Snuggles Little Dreamer a trailer, or a regular standard AV?

(Zone 1)

Oh My .... That one called 'Picasso' looks just like a painting! Really Beautiful! Gotta remember that one!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Poor Victoria Velvet. I like her blooms so much I didn't leave her many leaves on the plant.

Snuggles Little Dream, Lin, is a semi standards and Orchid Trail is a trailer. I am so mad at myself for not planting Orchid Trail with several crowns.......i can do it now, but when I separated them, they were so small I didn't put a lot together. I have more leaves of her growing and a lot of babies in solo pots. Isn't her bloom wonderful?

This is my good old standby Ek-Lesnaia Ezhevika
Everytime I take leaves off of her to stick she blooms again.

That is why she doesn't have any leaves left!!! i wanted to stick so many of her leaves.

***hey, I have a great deal going now. My son in law called (his undergraduate degree was in restaurant management) to say he wanted me to relax this holiday. The only thing I need to do is go to the grocery store in the morning and he is going to do all the cooking for everyone. He is a fabulous cook and my daughter is no help at all (LOL)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Picasso is outstanding, Lin and the blooms are sight to behold. Just remember her special color and bloom.

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

All of these flowers are just so beautiful... Good job ladies...
I have two more that are popping up from tiny leaves... I left them as they still had green and they gave me babies.... Wooo whooooooo :-)

Wow! Sounds like a Perfect Holiday to me ... having someone else do all the cooking! You and the grandkids could stay busy playing with plants! I at least will have help in the kitchen. We are going to my oldest sisters and will have a total of 12 or 13 for dinner. My youngest sister and I will be doing all the cooking because the oldest does not cook, nor does her 38 yr old daughter. My BIL will be frying a turkey as he does every year and I will stuff and roast the traditional one. We will also have a ham. My youngest niece who is almost 21 loves to cook and takes after her mom who is a fabulous cook! She is going to make a home made cherry pie for her Uncles because she knows they love Cherry Pie. I am baking all day tomorrow, pumpkin bread, banana bread, cookies and a cream cheese pound cake! I went to the grocery store today and got everything I will need!

Hope everyone has a Wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Way to go Susan! Are those both Chirita's??? I have a Chirita 'Aiko' that is growing from a leaf and found an un labeled chirita leaf rooted today that I had stuck in a terrarium! Have no clue which one it is!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Susan, great growing! Isn't it fun when you see that little baby stick its' head out?

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Yes they are just so cute... Thanks Gail for showing me how... I would never have believed I could do it...
Lin yes those are Chiritas growing one is a silver something... will look tomorrow... also have on e something..LOL I am off to bed as today was another doozie... Son broke hubby's chain saw... So husband took it really well and did not put the blame on anyone as the saw is at least 12 old so I said ok since you took it like a man and not a baby look on my side of the bed... He was then doing the happy dance... I went and bought him a brand new one...
I love the pictures...
Hug and Goodnights,
Susan

I have been loving all the pictures, such beauties with the flowers and babies both! I want to come back and name my favorites!! I've been just lurking around lately with too full of a plate to get to add to the fun! But I did snap a few pictures over the weekend that I hope to come back and post in the next couple of days!!

Karen thanks for the new thread, the other was such a good one but definitely getting looong! LOL

Susan you are an awesome wife, hope hubby really appreciates that new chain saw, and the great wife! :0)

I too am TRULY enjoying all the pictures and have been just kind of darting in and out.
I TRIED to quit smoking yesterday, made it 8 hours and then ran to Rite Aid for Commit lozenges, lemon drops, mints and a pack of cigarettes.
I was disappointed but still had the desire to quit. So I will try again today *lol* Here I sit with my Commit this morning writing to you all. I am happy to say that by this time yesterday I was begging hubby for a butt.
Every week I don't smoke I told hubby I get $20 for "funny money" that I would have spent on cigarettes. That's roughly $80/month and I will for the first time have a plant budget :)
So although sucking on this Commit thing tastes horrible, I sit here thinking of the babies I will be able to get a month or so from now :)

All the pictures are BEAUTIFUL! I don't have anything blooming right now but LOVE seeing all your babies :)

I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving. I have tomorrow off and will bake from the time my eyes open until early evening and then go out and deliver all the baked goods. Thanksgiving day I am not getting dressed and it's just going to be our little family of 4 which is kind of nice this year. Last year I had everyone here, this year they all decided to do their own thing :)

Enjoy!

Kim

Susan: What a sweet thing to do for your hubby .... I bet his eyes did light up when he saw that new chain saw! My husband is sooo hard to buy for! He is very technical and knows what he wants and I wouldn't have a clue what kind of tool or computer gadget to buy.

Kim: Hang in there .... Quitting Smoking takes a lot longer than a few days. Just think how long it took for that nicotine to take hold - it takes awhile for it to all get out of your system and for your body to NOT need it anymore! It will probably be harder for you to quit if your husband smokes too. I smoked many years ago. The first time I tried quitting was real hard because my brothers and one of my sisters and a friend smoked and they were always offering me a cigarette. I finally had to make the decision that I did not want one ... it was so very hard, but I have been smoke free for 38 years. I was not a heavy smoker and had only been smoking a couple of years so it was probably much easier for me to stop. It is a hard habit to break and my mom always said old habits are very hard to break ... be it cigarettes, alcohol, even husbands (LOL ... she divorced my dad after 36 years of marriage!)

Anyway, just know that we are pulling for you! Don't get down or depressed if you can't stop quickly ... sometimes it's a long process to clear your body of the addictive nicotine. Just take one day at a time. I think if you can just cut out one cigarette each day and gradually reduce the number you are smoking will make it a bit easier than trying to just stop completely at once. I bet you were awfully jittery after 8 hours without a cigarette!

Well, I better get busy ... I'm baking today, probably most of the day! Hope everyone has a Wonderful Thanksgiving! We are going to my Sister's in South Florida .... 3 1/2 hour drive - Ugh! I know traffic is going to be awful tomorrow!

Hope everyone has a Wonderful Thanksgiving!

I posted a pic of this Columnea last week. It got hit by a bit of cold but doesn't seem any worse for the wear. Actually has a few more blooms now, so maybe the cold temp's shocked it into blooming more?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Lin, I love these columneas. They are on my list next spring to start growing. Your blooms and foliage are fantastic to look at! (my mother told me never to end a sentence with a preposition) (LOL)

(Zone 1)

LOL, Gail! When we would ask my Mom a question such as "Where's Dad at?" She would answer: "Right before the at."

:)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

My mom did something horrible one time when I was in high school. Her generation was big on grammar and sentence structure. A high school coach asked Mom where my brother was that particular day and Mom's response was 'between the a and the t'. I died of embarrassment.

In today's world this doesn't seem to be important even to young people with very advanced degrees. I still hear my own children make giant gaffes in their grammar! (I do, too, but I wish I didn't........they don't seem to care at all)

(Zone 1)

Yep ... My Mom and my Aunt used to use that phrase also. I haven't heard that one in awhile!

Well, I just ran up to the HoneyBaked Ham Co. and picked up a 10lb ham to take to my Sister's for Thanksgiving. I made up my mind if I had to stuff and roast a turkey and bake and other things, I wasn't going to cook a ham too!

Now .... back to baking!

See y'all later!
