When I went to water a houseplant recently, I discovered these critters in the bottom of the ceramic pot. Can anyone tell me what they are and how they might have gotten there? I bought the plant at Kmart a few months ago. The critters only showed up in the past 2 weeks or so -- just after I fertilized for the first time, if there's a connection.
Worms found in pot
Were you using compost for fertilizer? They look like normal red worms.
Hi doccat,
No, I used Miracle Grow for indoor plants. Just a small capful added to a watering can.
Hmm, maybe they made the trip from K mart, if not I want some of that Miracle Grow! LOL All this work building a compost pile...phooey, something is not right here..............LOL They are certainly not going to hurt your plant, since their casting (poop) is what makes the soil rich and they are great little aeraters.
