Hey Todd, did you here him talk in October up there? Would love to hear any interesting tidbits of info you may have on the Corydalis spp.
I got some really nice big bunches of rhizomes of C. stenantha. They were started early in a greenhouse for a plant sale (not ours), and when it was time for their sale, the plants had already gone dormant. Of course they didn't sell, so the buyer for the sale donated them to our MN Rock Garden Society. And we "graciously" took them off his hands. I am anxious to see what they will do next season. I put the rhizomes just under the soil surface. Hope that's right.
Has anyone grown Corydalis stenantha?
C. ochroleuca is still pumping out flowers here. And nights have been as low as 25F (-4C).
Janis Ruksan
We heard Janis give two talks at the end of Oct. I've written up the one
on alliums. I also bought his book - its gorgeous! He had a rather heavy
accent so was a bit difficult to understand every word but his slides were
amazing and his enthusiasm was just delightful. Definitely one of the
top speakers for our chapter.
I looked up Corydalis stenantha in the index of his book and couldn't find
it. I would recommend his book though - gorgeous pictures, lots of wonderful
detail of the plants in their natural environs and lots of personal stories.
I've never figured out how to send attachments via d-mail but could paste
the talk into a message if you want to see the write up on Alliums.
Tam
Yeah, Dave only allows image attachments in D-mails, as far as I can tell. But in a pinch, you could scan a page and send the image of that. I sent you my email address so you can send the attachments as docs. Thanks Tammy.
But I am sure everyone could benefit from relevant information, so do copy and paste here what you might think would be interesting. And maybe start a new thread for Alliums. More fodder for conversation.
Todd is the only one I knew off the top of my head that would be associated with any particular NARGS chapter. That's why I singled him out asking about Ruksan, because I could see what Ruksan talked on at St. John's from the NARGS web site. Anyone that can contribute here, please do! I'd Love to hear anything about his other talks too, especial the Bulb Belt of the Former USSR and Versatile Fritillarias. Start a new thread for those also, please.
