I noticed that in some of the pictures the flowers looks more like a datura rather than a brug, is there not a difference between the 2?
I planted a brug last year and left it out and thought it didn't survive the winter but when I dugged it up to throw it away I noticed signs of life. So it bloomed but I did not get any seed pods, are there some that do not produce seed pods?
brugmansia question
there is a difference. brug flowers point down, and dats point up. the seedpods of dats are prickly, and don't need to be cross pollinated (don't quote me on that). brugs, however, must cross pollinate to make seed pods that are smooth and long. dats are usually not as big as brugs, as they tend to be shrubs, while brugs are naturally small trees (i think that the flowers on brugs, as well as their seedpods, tend to be bigger than those of daturas, but dont quote me on that either). your brug did not make seeds probably because there was no pollen from a nearby brug. brugs can't make seedpods with their own pollen.... i'm pretty sure...
thanks for the info. Guess I will need another plant for cross- pollination
no problem! i'm sure you can find someone w/ cuttings on this forum... there are tons of generous people here, and this is just the time to cut...
