Looking for lotus tubers
well i hope you have better luck then me on this lol,i have been asking for seeds or tubers/plants i did get a few seeds but would love tubers too lol plmk if you find any thxs
Hi Moretz,
I sure will. I just bought a dried tuber from asian grocery store and put it in water. I am not sure if it sprouts or not.
Lovetropics... If you have that tuber just in water you need to get it out of there or you are gonna rot it.
Get ya a plack pot or other plastic pot that does not have any hole sin it. get ya some garden dirt. Not the organic, nice, black fluffy stuff, but some plain old sandy loam type stuff. If ya have to dig down a bit in yoru yard to get past the top several inches of soil cuz that organic matter and such on the top. Ya just want plain dirt.
Fill yoru pot 3/4 full to the top with the soil. Take a small trench in the soil as deep as what your tuber is. Lay your tuber in the soil and if you see any green budding sprouts, face them upwards and try not to cover them, buit cover the rest of the tuber.
Adter you have the tuber covered good. Fill the rest of the pot up with water and just let it sit . You must always make sure there is some water in the pot. Don't try and change the water. When you get rain it will overfill the pot.
Holler at me in the spring and I will see if I have any tubers ready for ya both to try.
Mortz.... Do the same thing for your seed, Except take them and scratch them on the cement before planting. They generally don't take long to sprout.

Get some of the dried pods at the crafts store and you can plant the seeds in them. I understand the seeds are viable for a long, long time.
