Any one had a bad expereance using "grey water"? I have been reading about the dangers of using it on plants, and would like to hear it from You.I lost my beautiful waive petunia, that I had in a planter. It was going on three Yrs., and for some reason it rotted in the planter.I had been watering it from dish water, and wonder if that was the reason why.I don't know.Mike

Mike.... I been using grey water with the drought. Every little bit helps. One of the things though when using things like grey water or creek bed water and such is that especially in the grey water you have the chemicals that make up the dish soap. The componemts themselves don't hurt the plants. The constant use though ties up certain nutrients in the soil and builds up other ones. Wat you have to do is use your grey water a few time s and then water with a regular water. That flushes out any salts that build up and high quanties of other things like too much potassium or such that will tie up nitrogen and such. Then ya can use a bit of grey and then flush with regular water again.

I am amazed that you kept that petunia goign for so long. Ya did good! : ) Sorry it croake d on you. If you have any pieces of it let, you can cut them and root them fairly easily.

Good morning Ella, I'm afrade the petunia is a goner, but a climitis I thaught was a goner came up in its place.I am using the grey water in compost now,(the hot pile).I think it helps to break the ground leaves faster, its almost amaising how fast and converted the leaves are, and in a shorter time.I never toss anything that I can find a use for.Mike
