Rumor

Fredericktown, MO

Sad and Happy Story. Here is Rumor. She is our second champion Bullmastiff here. I placed her three years ago with "WHO I thought" was a great guy. Two weeks ago, I got off of work and my cell phone was loaded with missed calls from the vets office a county a way from us. I returned their call. They said, "We have Rumor!". I was like Rumor is with Bryan. I told them I would be there in 30 minutes, that is the drive time between here and there. In the meantime, while I'm driving, I'm trying to contact Bryan with no luck. I get to the vets office. They had called me because she was microchipped and the micro chip was registered to me. THANK GOD! They brought her out and I called her name............She came running!!!! I checked her out and she looked good, but when I looked in her mouth she was full of tumors on her gums! I had the vet check her out and he said, It's Cancer..........I loaded her in the car and got the phone number of the woman who had brought her into the vets office. We pulled into the driveway and she went nuts in the back seat......She remembered!!! We walked into the house and she went from room to room wagging like crazy!!!

I got her settled and called the woman who had found her........She told me Rumor had shown up on her door step a week before. They left her out their for two hours hoping she would go home. It was raining and cold and Rumor was soaked. Finally, they let her in. They layed a blanket out for her and she went directly to it. They said she was covered with dirt, fleas and ticks. The next day they gave her a bath and treated her with frontline. They noticed she was bleeding from her mouth when she ate that is when they discovered the tumors. They had tried hard to find her home. I thanked her so much for taking care of Rumor and offered to pay her. She wouldn't hear of it. They have never had a dog in the house and became attached to her.

In the meantime, I got ahold of Bryan. He told me she ran away a year ago and he would come and get her. For one thing......We had a contract. If he couldn't keep her, she would come back to me and if anything happened to her, I was to be notified immediately! She was found two counties from where she should have been. She looked good, so I'm sure someone was feeding her Thank God. I told him, he would not come get her. I had a contract that would hold up in court and I could not believe he would have let her go missing and not contact me. He got mad and told me, "You are very lucky I had anything to do with her, and I don't want her anyway." I told him.........and I am not a confrontational person........he could kiss my A_ _!

She is 8 years old now and just as beautiful as she was in her young days! Here are a couple of pictures taken tonight. She eats her food after I Puree it in the blender. The vet and I are trying to decide what to do about the tumors in her mouth. One thing for sure! Rumor is HOME. I should have never let her go!

Thanks for listening!
