Hope some of the Hoya Pro's can answer this guy's question. He's a new subscriber to DG and is asking on the house plant forum about fragrant plants that will do well under flourescent lights. I know there are many very fragrant hoyas but don't know if they would grow and bloom in a bathroom with no windows and only flourescent light. I was going to suggest a hoya to him but since I don't know if they will grow just under artificial light I thought I would come over here and ask y'all.
Has anyone here had experience growing hoyas this way?

Can anyone answer a newbie's question?
I think that if there were air flow of some kind...something like lacunosa would grow there....they would like the humidity.
Thanks AlohaHoya ... I went back and relayed the info to him! Appreciate your input!
He could also try H. obscura.... But he DOES have to leave the lights on all day!!!!
Like Orchids, pretty much all Hoyas will grow well and bloom under artificial light.
The most economical way to go about this is to use cheap four-foot florescent bulbs (one warm and one cool).
Your friend might also look into mylar as an additional reflective source (check out Hoya24's photos of his use of mylar and artificial lights http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/773859/).
I am attaching a blurb about artificial lighting as a jpeg.
