TODAY"S SNOW

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

I am at a high elevation-so we will often have snow when a mile down the road does not.
Candyce will appreciate this. (she lives on the other side of town)( I know when I dropped Eli off at school your scene was a little different.)
I call this Kubota with snow(the little tree next to the tractor is a dawn redwood)

eeeeks-----well, it is getting to be that time of year (sigh) Getting a bit of sugar snow here, not enough to accumulate, a bit better than rain, still a bitter wind though.

Here's a pic of my front door from this am. This is a rhodie that came from May Sarton's house(a famous writer/poet) Here's a cool link about her that talks about the NH house [HYPERLINK@digital.library.upenn.edu]
The current owners added on to the house and dug this and an ancient laurel up and had them sitting out of the ground for weeks and weeks. My DH offered to put them back in the ground there or here. They thought about it and they're addition was not close to done-they let us take them both!!! I love the shape of this rhodie. We grow MG's up it, it's very pretty. The left tree is a Tolleson's weeping juniper, behind it is a small pond.

Sure does brighten up a dreary fall landscape though, doesn't it?

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

Wait there's still more window up there!

Oh no-now I'm in trouble! I have this weird thing-I don't think I've ever found a plant hangar I like. Plenty of house plants though!!! I always bring in way too many to overwinter! Maybe someone can show me one to love! lol

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

Ok-so here is a pic of the MG's growing up the rhodie in Sept. '07

Very nice fh! The snow pics are beautiful. But keep it there please! For some reason your link did not show up as a click-able link.

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

HI Vic-do you mean on the weather forum?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No, the Sarton House link.

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

Ohhhhh! Ok let's try again
[HYPERLINK@digital.library.upenn.edu].

I hope it works-if it doesn't you can google May Sarton-it's the second link that comes up.-Kath
The part about Nelson is 1/3 of the way down.

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

Well I just tried it and it doesn't seem to work-strange-I'm not doing anything different!?!?!?

OK one more time

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

Yaaaaaaay!! That did it-I just typed the url in??

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Snow, snow go away,
Come again another year!

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

I have a love/hate thing with snow. But it leaves such little gardening time in NH!! It sure was pretty here this morning though. The pics don't do it justice!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Beautiful pics flowerhead410, ( I love snow!!).

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks Water-I really do love it-but I'm not in snow mode yet!

North Augusta, ON

I love the snow too, as long as I'm looking out at it----now, trudging through it, or driving through it, or shoveling it--not so much in love :)

Van Etten, NY(Zone 5a)

Love the morning glories. Here's my snow pic contribution. I took it this morning at the pond.

Way to go on the link, fh!

(Elvis voice)Thank you very much, thank you very much!

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

flowerhead, is that darker MG a Grandpa Ott? All your pics are so pretty. I always love the first snow - the rest can go back where they came from!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Flowerhead - loved all of your shots! Snow, sniff....I really do sort of miss it! Especially that first snow! It looks like your yard is frosted with confectioner's sugar!

Bebop - artistic shot, as always!

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

Primrose-I think the dark is Grandpa Ott, but I'm not positive. The lighter is definitely Heavenly Blue. I got some cool new varieties from the MG forum, can't wait until next year(that's the reason I get sick of snow because our season is sooo short-but the snow is beautiful!) I love that we have snow and a mile down the road has barely a coating-that always amazes me! Sometimes it will be raining a mile down the road and snowing here and those ones are always wet snows, so they coat everything. The delineation is even more of a contrast and more incredible!

Flowerhead, I can relate weather wise. I get frustrated every spring, because it seems the whole town has their daffodils and tulips blooming except my street. We're on the west side of our town, on a hill (even live on Hill St.!), with a lake about 1/2 mile west of us, so it's like we're in our own little micro-climate.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Flowerhead - Isn't that the truth about NH? Where we are on a hilltop, we can have competely different weather - especially snow - and just down the hill, or in Keene, there's a completely different scene!

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

Donnie-where are you from in NH?

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Kath:

Thanks for sharing all those great pix of 'our' town! It sounds like everyone has really enjoyed seeing them. You have inspired me to get outside a bit more, perhaps, to take some winter scene photos this year. that is, if the 'grands' will be cooperative enough to let me escape for a few minutes.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Flowerhead......we're just south of Keene.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

It sounds like we are finding more and more of our neighbors here in the Garden. Right Louise?

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Yes, Candyce.......we'll have to get together when I get back up there........Maybe some more neighbors will speak up by then!! You gals are responsible for holding things together up there until I return! LOL

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

Hi Candyce, I'm glad you liked the pics! I was in CT for the weekend having an early Thanksgiving with my in-laws. We are vegetarians, so no turkey on turkey day!! lol, but we still love all the fixins'. On Thursday I'll make a "tofurkey". We all love it. Donnie, where do you winter in FL? I have two brothers in W Palm Beach area. I went down last year, but that was my first time in many years there. What exciting Thanksgiving plans do you all have?
