Hi Lou...

I think it is a super idea!!! However....I would NIX traveling to the E.Coast only because of the airport problems there...airlines over crowded etc. Why not find a little place in the midwest or Texas...where AC is not a requirement (I don't know why but I HATE living with AC), where DGers will be able to make their own entertainment...Can't imagine not having enough to say!!!...Easyish to get to from both coasts...Like, uh, Boise, Idaho, Spokane, Wa., .... Somewhere with botanical gardens? which perhaps could be a venue?....

Just my two cents....

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

LOL ...Carol, follow her link....your on the same page...

I second about the east coast...I who see the atc delays first hand 4.5 days out of the 7 days a week

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

I went there, Randy...too long to muddle thru it all!!!! Just wanted to add my opinion....but I think it is a great!!! idea. Let's have it in Corpus Christi????

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

no...my house! LOL
So Dmail me on happenings for Borneo

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Corpus is good! Randy's is good! LOL (Close for me....)

Houston has the George R. Brown Convention Center, and lots of Hotels that do Conventions!!!!!!!!! Might be a little less expensive than Dallas!

Somewhere where they do have Botanical Gardens would be nice!

Hawaii is a nice destination! LOL

At this time I am not able to really leave the area due to my health and that of my Mom's.....but it sounds like a great idea!

Timing is oh so important.....a time where gardeners can leave the garden without worries......yet no one gets "snowed in" trying to travel either to or from......

No date is going to please everyone 100%...that's for sure. But I think a coupleof days wont hurt any schedule too much. I think it should be 'central' for everyone...but the E. Coast is a disaster as far as I am concerned and I will only visit there on horseback!

Randy...Dmail coming.

I'm not overly fond of the East Coast either. We have lived in Fla, NC, and VA. We've driven thru some of the other lower easten states, and a few central.

I guess I'm prejudice to TX and Hawaii!

Hi, everyone. I second Hawai'i. It is a known fact that when conventions are held in Hawai'i, as much as 30% more people join than would have attended had it been held on the mainland. Plus, don't forget the gardens over there: to die for. Pick an island, any island and watch DGers flock.

I can only watch from a distance so it doesn't matter to me....I am sure it will be good fun for all that get to attend....

Sylvain....have posted some stuff on the u/w thread you started...havent seen you there for a while.....I have been missing for a while too.....stop by and say hi there when you can...

Thanks for the suggestion but most are complaining about going more than 30 minutes from home. Hawai`i would shut it down for sure. Been reading the book, IZ, that Shari gave to me. So sad. I cried.

Iz had a soul and a heart so large and so generous that his spirit overwhelms. I am sure he raised a lot of hell in his day...he was not called the Gentle Giant for nothing. Smile when you think of him...it would make him feel loved.

I know that everyone wishes for such a great event to happen in their back yard. Given this country's continental size, what are anyone's odds of this being a neighbourhood event? I would say slim, very slim. Of course, I know that choosing Hawai'i is a pipe dream. I just want to have a good reason to return to the hawai'ian islands.

Iz's music has been playing in my car since I returned from Honolulu in May. Once in a while, I change one CD for another but it's always Iz. Good news: my hawai'ian is improving.

Take care, all.
Sylvain.
