Slumber Party in My Kitchen Tonight

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Weather is turning, BF cage is unaccessible (due to new construction in the way), the party has moved inside. Who's bringing popcorn?

Edited to add that part about the construction. Hubby is doing a doozy on the shed for me and the BF cage has been blocked until next weekend, hopefully.

Looks like fun! I'll bring the A. incarnata!

Woohoo Kristi! What a healthy and fat crowd!
I haven't found any cats here for weeks and rarely see an adult, they are getting out of Dodge pronto, the cool weather is on its way.

Keep an eye on them, I'm still seeing lots of wasp and a few leaf-footed bugs, I think some of them are meat eaters too, ugh.

Your mw looks great!

I'll bring the pooper-scooper...you'll need it LOL

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

I need a pooper scooper AND more MW! I'll have to make a trip today to find some more. They have practically devoured the yard. Keeping fingers crossed!

I've been killing wasps and leaf footers left and right. Add to that, MW bugs and praying mantis. I feel like the Terminator.

If I had any mw I would give it to you...mine is all nubs with a few leaves at the top, it's not growing much. It's amazing how much a difference 50 miles north makes...would you say we are 50 miles apart?

Do you exit your garden with the words...'I'll Be Back'? .....heehee....with the voice of course

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

I sure did. LOL.

Yes, I'd say we're probably 50 miles apart. That seems right. And it relly does make a difference with some plants. Wouldn't seem like it but it does.

Off to HGC - hope they have MW and I'll have to give it a good washing before I bring it in.

And here we are, 5 days later....only 3 guys left to munch (thank goodness because I am out of EVERYTHING!)

Hey, I could say this is my Xmas tree for a few days. Like my new ornaments?

They make beautiful ornaments!

Good job K!

I found 4 eggs on my almost bare mw stalks today. I just had to bring them in. By the time they eclose it will be way into December and most likely cold. I may have to drive them to you K to give them a head start to Mexico.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

We'll work something out, Fly. I'm sure we need to get together for a Christmas lunch anyways. Perhaps we can tag team with my friend who goes to the Valley every Christmas around the 15th. She could help us out, I'm sure. Those babies can get where they need to be. They could get a good head start.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I've still got milkweed....but only aphids...no cats...WAH!

K-
I'd pay money for THAT Christmas tree! It's a beaut!

Thank you, Adrienne!

They're all in chrysalis now and some should be eclosing by tomorrow or Monday. Got to get them outside and praying for good weather. The original picture of all the cats in my kitchen is going to be on the local news station on Monday morning. How funny is that?

Too cool knolan!! Send us the link to their website if they post the article there. Everything we can do to make people aware of our friends in the garden can help. I got yard of the month for Oct in our little neighborhood, and they did an article in the newsletter on my yard. The only thing I asked her to include was the fact that I used perennials and especially native plants. Also that I planted host plants for the butterflies, brought in the caterpillars to protect them from predators and released them after they eclosed. She did it... and who knows, it may get others to be more selective when they get new plants!

Thanks, Sheila!

They aren't doing an article, just showing the picture behind the meteorologist. I know....big whoop, but I thought it was funny.

Congrats on the yard of the month! That's great news. Maybe more people will move to the perennial and native gardening. I sure wish they would here.
