I'm new to the DG and am looking forward to meeting all you wonderful people.
This is my little princess, Vicki. She is almost 2 years old. I do not advocate purchasing any animals from pet stores (due to possible puppy mill production) but I went against everything I believed in and just fell in love with her as soon as I saw her.
My husband and I was at a Vietnamese restaurant and near there was a pet store. We decided to just go in to look around and there she was, in a crate almost too small for her (she was already 6 months old). I felt so sorry for her that I purchased her right on the spot.
When we brought her home, we noticed that she had a horrible cough and she was so short of breath that we took her to our personal Vet. Some tests were done and found that she had a bad case of E-Coli in her lungs. She was on Cipro for almost 4 month and more tests were done at Shands Veterinarian clinic in Gainsville.
Alot of $$ was spent to get her better but we got the pet store to pay for most of it. I really believe that if we didn't get her they would have just put her to sleep.
This is one instance I'm glad that we got one from a pet store. She is a wonderful, obedient "child". She graduated from obedience school and just so loveable. She even knows our property boundary and will not cross it unless we are there and allow her to do so. She still gets out of breath easily if she does too much due to scaring in the lungs but other than that she is doing fine.
Please pray for her, this Thursday she will be getting spayed. I'm more nervous about this than the colon resection that I had done 5 weeks ago!!
