Last pots in the garage -help? (I'm in 7b)

Mableton, GA(Zone 7a)

Hey. I have 2 society garlic plants, 6 or so crinums (most small - golf to tennis ball size) and 8-1 gallon agapantus. Because they are my favorite, I never planted them because I couldn't find the 'Perfect" spot. Stupid! Now it's mid-November and I'm panicing!

1) Do I keep the agapanthus and garlic in the garage and keep watering throughout the winter (hardly and light). Or should I just get them in the ground somewhere?

2) For the crinum bulbs, do I take them out of the small bit of dirt they are in, leave them bare, dry and dark in the garage for the winter? Or, again, should I just try and get them in the ground somewhere?

I appreciate the help. I'm going to post this in a couple of other places too so I can get more opinions.

Thanks all!

Both Allium and crinums are hardy here for me on my zone. One thing with planting bulbs is note-worthy in our climate = avoid soaking wet situation; that's where it's most damaging when the wheather turns cold. Best of lucks.

hmmmm......if they were already in the ground I think all would be well, but I probably would keep them potted the way they are and store them. I did plant crinums last week but only bigger bulbs. Now if it's crinum bulbispermum, yes, you can plant it or another really hardy crinum and you think they are big enough. don't know if I helped or confused you more... but overall I say store them in the pots and keep them pretty dry

anyone feel differently?

I think I'm with you tropicanna, Fall is time for us to plant spring bulbs. Spring is then the time to plant summer bulbs, and I think both crinums and Allium belong to the latter. Others please chime in.

OK. Sound's like y'all are telling me to over winter everything.

Societ garlic and agapanthus: keep potted, cut back water and let die back in the garage where there is very little light.

Crinums: remove small amount of dirt on them, let drie out and foliage die back, store in garage.

Correct?

That's what I think, but I'd probably just leave the crinum potted and keep on the dry side if you have room. either way you'd be fine, if you left it in the pot or let them dry and stored the bulbs

agapanthus should be hardy for you,i have some that i leave out all winter but it is best to make sure they have like 2 weeks or so to get a good root system to make sure they will make it and they dont like to get wet lol ,which up here we havent had any rain in over 2-3 months now so im not sure if you have to worry about wet winters lol but i wish ours would be hehehehe
what i usually do is take in babies and leave the big ones out to see if they do make it but that is up to you lol
good luck

3gardeners: Both Society garlic and agapanthus have been very hardy for me in 8a. (I do agree that it might be best to wait to put them in ground til spring.)
