It's going into the upper 70's this week .. my poor plants are confused and will probably encourage new growth!

I was just contemplating that forecast myself. Thinking I might even put my blooming Dendrobiums back outside. It was baking inside my 'greenhouse" yesterday when it was only 60 something!

I hear you both! In fact, I heard Howdy Doody his own self suggesting a high of 83 next week! Global warming, no doubt...sound the alarms! We are doomed! Because it's all OUR fault. Never mind the much bigger Mother Nature, and her whims and fancies...it's GOT to be our fault. Otherwise, there's no political advantage... Meanwhile I'll just deal with the temps. Move the hundreds of plants I just moved into the greenhouse...and sprayed... back outside for a few days, then move them all back inside when temperatures plummet again? I don't think so. Guess I've grown somehow immune to these scaremongers....Must be age creeping up on me! But I'm not moving anything in or out based on a 50-50 weather forecast...

I remember in the 60s we went thru this same kind of weather. Our well went dry and the Tallapoosa River became a 2 feet creek for months. Can you tell I am from west Georgia originally.LOL
Out front of our office bldg the Geraniums are still in full bloom and the purple wondering jew looks great. No frost has got them yet and they are in the wide open.
I don't beleive in global warming either I think its just the planet going thru its normal cycles as it has over 100s of years.

Mt cactus are doing fine.

10 more working days after today till RETIREMENT.

((((hugs))) everybody

Lavina: Congratulations on your upcoming relaxation! You have 10 days, I have 10 years. LOL!
Off today though for Veteran's Day holiday.

I'm not putting anything back out either (except maybe the two orchids). I did remove the covers from a couple of outdoor plants. Minor inconvenience. Otherwise just ventilating the 'greenhouse" to keep it as airy as possible. Everything else stays put!! Doesn't this happen every year anyway? Cold-warm-cold-warm, till it eventually decides it really is winter time.

I won't complain about warm. I absolutely detest cold and frost. :)

Actually, it's been unusually cold for this time of year. We should be in the 70's. All I do is open the greenhouse a little wider when it gets warm.

Deb you could probably use one of these:

I have one with the sensor in the greenhouse. It has an alarm on the base station that sounds if it gets too hot or cold. You set the limits. I love mine and it has saved my plants from getting cooked countless times.

Thanks X. I have an indoor/outdoor with a sensor, but it doesn't have the alarm feature. That would definitely be a handy thing!

And yes, it seems we usually don't get the cold stuff til at least Thanksgiving (then it starts the warm up/cool down thingy).
I have a theory, that the reason we've had colder weather ealier than normal is that there's been no cloud cover to keep the warm air in - what with our drought situation and all. Ya think?

LavinaMae, congratulation on your upcoming days of freedom. I retired in January and was thrilled to be able to go back to some serious gardening. The commute as such a killer I barely had time to play with my roses. We've had a couple of light frosts, but nothing major yet. My roses are still blooming, not as much, but enough I can always get a few fresh one's to admire. We're in a little valley topographically speaking it seems, so it's sometimes hard to rely on the national weather service. A lot of the bad stuff seems to go around. We've had a couple of decent days of rain, but can certainly use some more. Not like you poor folks in GA, although most of the area has mandatory water restrictions in place. We have a shallow well, so I do that all the time, LOL.

Welcome to the REAL world in 10 days, LavinaMae! My experience with the "Great Change" is that you'll never have been so busy, or worked so hard! Fun Time...but you can't help wondering how you ever managed it "part time"!!!

Grantsboro, NC(Zone 8b)

I have an indoor/outdoor sensor and I love it. I just can't figure out how to chane it from celcus to degrees. So if I lose my chart showing the conversion I am in trouble. Still no frost at my home in Raleigh.

9 more working days after today to freedom.LOL
(Nov. 29th is official day. I work a 4 day week)
