Does anyone know if kolanchoe can be potted with some ivy? If they are both drought tolerant, can they both live together?
Thanks, Elizabeth
kalanchoe and ivy?
I think kalanchoe likes sun and not much water, and ivy likes more shade and more water, so I don't know that they would be a good combination. Some ivies can take full sun in some climates, but in TX with your hot summers a lot of plants that can take full sun elsewhere will want some afternoon shade in your climate. If you want something trailing to go along with your Kalanchoe, I'd consider a trailing sedum, or there are a number of other succulents that have trailing habits, those would like the same conditions as Kalanchoe more than the ivy would.
Thanks- I only water my kolanchoe once a week or so, and my ivy abit more.
I took some leaves off my kolanchoe and stuck them in my ivy pot inside. They most likely won't make it inside, but I'm not giving up:)
I've figured out that the sun here is hard on most plants. Although my kolanchoes have done really great outside.

Kalanchoes love sun, they should do fine in your hot sun, it was the ivy I wasn't so sure about! You can grow Kalanchoe inside too, I see them sold as houseplants. They'd probably be happier outside at least during the warmer months but if you have a nice bright window and are careful on the watering, they could do OK indoors too.
You give me hope!!!
