Ok, somebody here tell me............is my brug I grew from a seed that is one of Monika's crosses pregnant??? I have never seen a real, live seed pod before and I was totally shocked when I saw this last night up in the greenhouse. If I really do have a pod, I think I will hyperventilate, as I NEVER, ever thought I would get one. I didn't pollinate it, so it must have been a moth or something else. That poor plant has been blown over this summer so many times from the wind, maybe it was a ground dwelling creature that pollinated it.........a mouse, perhaps???? I felt it tonight and it was very solid, not soft and scrunchy like a bud. So, tell me, am I gonna have Grand-brugs??
Is this a pod?
hello, yes that is a pod !!!!I am a newbie so i can't tell you much more. i have one also :)
Kim
What an absolute wonderful feeling you must have!
CONGRATULATIONS!
Oh, it is just WAY TOO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Will it grow any bigger? I never noticed it when I took it into the greenhouse, but it has been in there about a month or 6 weeks. Darn plant has buds like crazy on it, so will have some blooms soon.
LOL Anna_Z..congratulations! Yep...it's preggers alright. Pods take about 3 months to mature..sometimes longer if the temp in your greenhouse is very cool. Yes, it will get bigger..size varies from plant to plant but usually 5-6" long anyway. Some are reeeeeeeeeeeally long and skinny..others short and FAT. You'll know it's ripe when:
the stem starts to turn yellow
the outer layer begins to shrivel and soften or turn brown
the anticipation has just about killed you and just can't stand it any more..LOL
Congratulations Anna!!! Way cool.. awww a baby pod... I love pods! LOL Get a paper bag and sit down to slow your breathing.. and don't do anything different or let the plant know how much you love it!
LOL @ ZZ!
That is a pod!
