I was watching Giada De Laurentiis on the Food Network last night and she was making a turkey that sounded and looked scrumptious. I'm thinking of trying it on a roaster chicken this weekend, prior to subjecting the Thanksgiving turkey and my guests to this experiment.
What she did was stuff the cavity with a cut up orange, lemon and onion and added sprigs of oregano, rosemary and sage. http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_29171,00.html
My question is, has anyone tried anything like this before? I bought the fruits and herbs tonight, but now I'm wondering if it really flavors the bird, or am I just wasting the expensive fruits and herbs?
