Bringing herbs in for the winter

Chepachet, RI(Zone 5b)

This was my first year growing herbs in the garden and I have to say they took off really well. I planted two sage plants, three rosemary plants and two oregano plants. About a week ago I knew we were going to get a good frost so I dug the plants up and put them into large 12" pots. I stuck them in a sunny spot in the garage and they are doing fine, but the time has come for them to come inside and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to best accomplish that. I'm not seeing any bugs on them, though I imagine there are a few in the dirt. Any suggestions on how to keep these plants happy would be most appreciated. Thanks!

I live in zone 5.Grow 4 types of oregano,Never lift, they winter over outside always come back in the spring.Same goes for my sages.Rosemary on the other hand is difficult.Reason is, it loves the sun.Keep in a sunny spot or/and use flourescent bulbs on a 16 hour timer.Keep it watered and mist it often. It will take a beating but will recover.Keep temperature above 40*.At this point, keep your oregano and sages in the garage.Edge

I do the same thing edge does. Rosemary does not transplant well and folks around here leave it in a buried or not pot for the outside season and then bring it in,pot and all for the winter. It seems to be digging them up and potting that makes them weak or die during the wintering inside. Love the smell!
