May your life be full of all good things (including many, many hibiscus.) Hope you celebrate and have a wonderful birthday and a fantastic year. alice
Happy Birthday Liz (ecrane3)
Thank you! Magnifique has 2 blooms for me today to wish me happy birthday (if I get home from work before it gets dark I'll post some pics)
Happy Birthday Liz. Hope it is a great one for you!!!

Liz, I hope you have a WONDERFUL birthday!!!!!
karen
Thanks everyone! The day would have been more special if I didn't have to work :-( But for a work day it was OK and the weather around here is absolutely gorgeous this week. And I'll be celebrating this weekend by buying myself some new plants (like I need more!)
Thanks Kell! I love the picture--which hibby is that?
I haven't totally decided where I'm going shopping yet--Berkeley Hort is probably on the list since it's my #1 favorite nursery. And according to Magic Gardens website, they're back to being open on Sundays so I may stop there too. And I've been wanting to check out Flora Grubb Gardens in the City, I used to go there occasionally back when it was Guerrero St. Gardens, and now it sounds like it's bigger and better. But I don't really like driving in the City so every time I think about going over there I talk myself out of it! I'll probably wait until the following weekend since Strybing's having their last sale of the year so maybe I'll go there and then Flora Grubb
You have to do Flora Grubb, I am dying to find out it that place is a special as I have read.
happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy b i r t h d a y dear Li-iz, happy birthday to you.
LouC
Thanks!
Alice--if I make it over to Flora Grubb I will definitely let you know how it is!
Thank you! That's another beauty! I don't think I could ever have too many hibiscus! (although my greenhouse might disagree with me!)
Thanks Cat!
What a darling card, Cat!
Liz, it is Pride of Acadiana.
I hate driving in SF too. I may have to though for I am due a trip to the Arboretum. I wonder if it is up any hills or even down them to get to Flora Grubb from there. I hate those hills! I havenever been to Flora Grubb. I bet it is fun!
I have seen at least a half dozen articles on this place; she must have a terrific PR firm. This is a link to a short blurb.

Thanks Kell--that one was already on my wish list for next year!
I don't think there are too many hills between the arboretum and Flora Grubb--it's down off of Cesar Chavez and that area's a lot flatter. I've been there before (back when they were on Guerrero St. and were called Guerrero St. Gardens). It was really small but they had a ton of plants there, and they did have a lot of good stuff. I don't know why I didn't go there more often, probably the whole driving in the City thing plus they had the worst parking situation of any nursery I've ever been to, I think the closest I ever got was 5 blocks away, so that made it more complicated if I wanted to get more than 1 or 2 plants. But the new place is bigger and I think it has a parking lot, so I'm excited to check it out!
Boy that article, Alice, makes me want to rush right there!!
I have been stuck inside since Sunday, so sick! I am so wanting to get out. I must be feeling better. Tonight is sushi night so a good way to get out. I may try to get Tom to take me on the way to sushi. HA HA. Dreaming.
Glad to hear you are starting to feel better. Have some chicken soup with that sushi. LOL
I wish I could remember where I saw the long article about Flora Grubb, it had many gorgeous pictures of the place and I wanted to just jump on a plane and go see it.
Liz, Happy late birthday!! Hope it was a great day!
:-)
Kyle
Liz, do you realize just how special you are??
Thanks Kyle--I did have a very nice day!
LouC--everyone here does make me feel really special! It feels really nice to have so many people here wishing me well on my b-day!
