I dig mine up and divide them and pot them up. I keep most in a grhouse, but some I have in the house. Anywhere where you can keep them warm and in as much light as possible. They don't really grow in the winter-a lot of the leaves will turn yellow as they are going into a dormancy-but they still need to be kept warm. Once the warm weather starts up in the late spring, you can bring them back outside and they will start to grow again and send out new shoots. The old stems will die back then
