1 of 8. Giant Swallowtail egging my Satsumas.
Eight BF pics from today.
Wow, great pics trois! The colors are so rich!
Thanks, fly_girl. My new camera does a great job with color with reasonable light. Light overcast seems best, but full sun is OK too.

Tell me all the details! What kind of camera, lens and other magic? They really do look great!
I like them all but the contrast of the Fairy Duster and the Sulphur is really nice.
Thanks, fly_girl.
Pentax K 10 D. 10.2 MP. I ordered an adapter from China that allows me to use my medium format 135mm Macro lens, which will focus down to 2 feet, and is effectively an 810mm lens that focuses down to 2 feet. I can use big F-stops such as F-38 for maximum depth of field on very small subjects.
As soon as I learn how to use it, I should do better. I hope.
So far, the best part is I can stay off my knees and still take pix of small objects on the ground.

I can't wait to see more, those are some nice shots!
Great shots Trois! I really love the Long tailed Skipper, wow the blue is beautiful.
Thanks, Sheila. It was the prettiest one I have seen.
Trois....those are beautiful pics! One of these days when I get done with school...which will be a while...I want to get a better camera and take a class or something. I love following the butterflies around my yard taking pictures, although my neighbors probably think I'm on something...lol.
Naw Kim, those blue eyes are clear as a bell, you're just high on nature!
But I do know what you mean. I have parsley and Rue in a side flower bed that I was checking many times for cats this summer. I had to get on my hands & knees to do so because of my back. I am sure the neighbors took a second look at the crazy lady with her head in the flower bed. LOL!
Thanks, Kim.
Kim, one thing I have learned is that sudden movement scares them away. Watch carefully which flowers they keep going back to, sit and wait. They will be back, just move everything slowly. Especially putting the camera up to your eye.
Sheila, I can no longer get down and back up, at least in a reasonable amount of time. That is why I am so happy with this camera that doesn't require it.

Trois.... I didn't mean I got down to take pictures, I was on my caterpillar patrol. I rescue them and raise them in a protected environment then release them. They are so tiny you have to look for them with a magnifying glass and get them before the wasp, spiders, assian bugs or geckos do.
That would still leave me out. I should have taken better care of my joints!
Stunning pics trois.
Thanks, jmorth. Some days I get lucky.
