A new Terrarium Gardener

I have been perusing this forum for a couple of days and have seen may beautiful terrariums.

I have some questions on how to get my terrarium started. Could someone help me, please?

I have a 10 gal Aquarium that I planted as a Terrarium and also some glass jars with lids that have plants in them. My method is this. First I wash and rinse the container thoroughly. I buy the small pea gravel/pebbles and rinse thoroughly and put about a 1" layer in the bottom of the container. Then I put in my potting soil. I use regular miracle grow potting soil with perlite mixed in. Then I plant the plants and put the lid on.
