I know this is no big deal to most of you...

Hometown, IL(Zone 5a)

But this is the first AV I've ever gotten to live, much less flower! I just had to show off...I've been trying for 20 years, but I got a new window this year where an old window AC was, and that's made all the difference. (That, and lurking on the AV board, learning.)

Can anyone tell me the cultivar I have? It was labled "NOID Galaxie"

I feed it with Miracle Gro AV food (liquid) from the bottom, and have it on a pebble tray. It's potted in MG AV soil, with a little perlite mixed in.

Could you tell me if I'm missing anything culture-wise? I'd really like this to thrive!

Thanks,

Marsha.

Marsha: That is a Lovely African Violet! I went to the AVSA website and looked at one called Galaxy but the flower is not the same as your plant. I googled AV 'Galaxy' and this is all I came up with this:

I'm sure some of the pro's will come along sometime soon and try to answer your question.

Looks to me like you are doing Everything right! That's a great job of growing .... Very NIce!

edited to say: At that site I linked you to .... scroll down a little and there's no photo but they do give a description of a plant called Ultra Violet Galaxy ... and info on the hybridizer. I think it might be your plant!

I have never been able to grow AV's either :(
I'm TRYING like made to grow streps right now and it's quite a challenge. Seems like all the "easy" plants are not so "easy" for me *lol*
