Does anyone grow this hoya? It's been a bear for me to grow. I got a nice plant from Mark here in SF (thanks again!) and it's put out new shoots 3 times, and each time the new shoots have withered and died after about an inch and a half. I have it in a sunny East-facing window where it gets morning sun until about noon or so, and keep it on the dry side.
Thanks, Julia
Hoya benguetensis
I have this one too. It started out growing wonderfully, but then I made the mistake of taking a cutting from it when it was a year old, and it sulked for a long time, but has finally started growing again. I let the top of mine get dry down a couple of inches between waterings, and keep it in a north-west facing window - it's a bright window that gets a little very late day sun. No blooms yet, and its 2-1/2 years old. Now that it's finished sulking I'm hoping that I'l lhave blooms by next summer.

Julia, I have had a few plants do that vine withering thing, especially early in the game, but eventually they get it right and you'll start worrying about being able to find room for it! I don't have this one yet, so I don't know if keeping it on the dry side has anything to do with it, it may just need some time..
Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll demote it to a less visible shelf. Funny how some of the less common hoyas seem to thrive for me (h. mindorensis, h. ischnopus), but h. bella dies every time and this one spurts then withers.

Hello Julia , my experience with this plant is that grows well for me only if it has really good humidity.
regards Roy
Thanks for the tip, Roy. That could explain the wilt - too much direct sun, not enough humidity. I'll try putting it in my bathroom. I did this with my heuschkeliana -- which didn't grow AT ALL for a year, and then suddenly took off when I moved it to the bathroom.
I grow my bengeutensis on the NE side of the gh in very bright indirect light and I find that it as well as all of my other Philippine hoya species like to stay on the moist side, not soaking wet but evenly moist and never allowed to dry out completely and they all grow very well for me under those conditions.

Thanks, David. I was keeping it too dry, me thinks.
