My Books left at the Arlington swap!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I didn't mean for the books to be door prizes or to get passed around. I set them down on the nearest bench to situate before leaving to go home. I had brought them in case we/anyone needed to look anything up.

Kim recovered 4 of them and she is returning them to me.
The 2 missing are:
A huge... Gardening Encyclopedia of Garden Plants
and a Field guide to Insects, which belongs to my 9 year old son Ben. He just received it for his birthday a couple weeks ago.
Please let me know if you picked them up by accident or otherwise. I shouldn't have left them, I know, however we really need our books.

debnes
Here is what Ben's book looks like and the Gardening Encyclopedia is about 2" thick, hard back, glossy paper cover. Very heavy!

Oh Deb, I am so sorry all your books were not with Kim, I am sure you will recover the missing ones too. Please everybody, check around and see.
Josephine.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Same here... I had several people ask me about the books but I had no idea who owned them. You did spark a lot of interest. I hope you find them soon!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

The Insect book has been located!! Now the only one not accounted for is the Encyclopedia.
Maybe someone remembers seeing someone with it...

Thanks Josephine & Mitch!

debnes

Everybody check in to say they don't have them. That way a d-mail could be sent to those who have been too busy to check threads.

Sry, don't have them. Hope you find them soon.

No plant encyclopedia here. Robert did receive a small book about roses as a door prize, but that's the only book we brought home.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

I didn't bring home any books. Hope you find it soon.( I know you have a great memory for plants but probably need to brush up every once in a while.)

I really appreciate it!!

You know Deb, since the bag was right by the door prizes table, many people wondered if the books were door prizes that didn't make it to the table, or if they were to give away, so I bet that is what happened, people thought they were to give away.
Since many of the people who attended don't watch the forum regularly you may have to dmail them.
Sorry you had this trouble.
Josephine.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Its alright Josephine,
I am doing everything I can to find them, but if it all boils down I can get another encyclopedia at half price books.

Of all the benches I could leave them at................ (duh!) My fault... Just thought it was worth a try here.

debnes

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, if you don't get it back we will buy you the book with the extra money from the swap, and also they may not have it at half price books.
Let us wait and see, do you want me do dmail some people for you?
Josephine.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Josephine!! That is very precious of you to offer, but it is really alright.

I am pretty sure they will have another copy at half price, I will be fine. The main concern was Ben's book, my bird books, and the Texas Native Plant book I got at the sale.. They are all accounted for now except the encyclopedia.
I really should have had more snap than to leave it, furthermore to leave them at the gift table, :-D-uh! I was so tired, I was lucky to be walking at all..
Whoever has it probably really needed it, and will get a lot of use from it..

I am fine, really. If I weren't I would say so, lol!
Thank you so much J!

debnes

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

I got a book, 'Native Shrubs & Woody Vines of the SE' as a door prize.
Is this one of your, debnes?
Whoever has the encyclopedia (can't help but singing that song when I type that word) would know it! I know I have one & it ususally gets pulled out of the bookcase & right straight to the carpet b/c it is so blooming heavy!
LMK

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I am really ready to drop the search now, everyone. You were all so wonderful to come try..

Thanks big time!

I don't have it, you know since we spoke. Glad you were able to track down the others from Kim. Hopefully you will locate the last one too. I know when I looked into the bag as Kim and I were discussing her taking the leftovers for the CS swap, I saw an Eagle on the front cover and I think only three books. So whenever it dissappeared it was prior to that I think. Don't think we gave a book that large away for a doorprize.

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

I didn't attend, but hope you get the other one back. Reminds me of a swap years ago when I had my Enquist field guide on the table. Lucky for me I was right there when a lady walked up and grabbed the book, thinking it was for trade. After that I learned that any books I brought just for reference go under my table hidden in a box. And I totally understand how tired you can be at a swap!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Here again is a good pic of the missing book.. If I had this url when I started this post I would have included it then..

http://www.amazon.ca/American-Horticultural-Society-Encyclopedia-Limited/dp/images/0789419432

I know where to find another one for about 12.95. They had several copies at half price books about a mile from me. The recovered ones would have been much more difficult to replace. It's all good!!

debnes

Dallas, TX

I left my Friskars at the first Dallas swap and I had to run this same thread. lol. Why I had them with me? I have no idea, but Mitch found them and kept them for me. Thank goodness, because I am lost with out my pruners ... since then I have lost three or four more ... 2007 I must have spent 90.00 on pruners ... I need me one of those holsters like Smockette ... would I remember to put it back in the Holster? lol

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia, I don't think we had better hang out together. We would be dangerous. hahahaha

I can't keep up with my tools while I am still in the same spot where I just used them.

I have the same problem too, I guess we are thinking of too many things at the same time.
Josephine.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Glad ya found those pruners Sylvia.. I hear ya with losing things, lol!

debnes

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Deb, I think you should go ahead and buy one of those books at half price books before they are gone, I will send you a check for $15.00 to cover it, and if you get the other one back we can use it for a door prize next year, is that a deal?
Josephine.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

That is too kind of you Josephine! I'd like to say you don't have to do that, but I know you...lol! I felt like it was a lesson I needed to learn about bringing personal books to big gatherings. I already knew how kind you all are. Compensating me for my book is way beyond what I expected.

Thank you Josephine,

debnes
