poor Mommies

Hello!
I can't have horses were i live, but just love them and took every riding class i could while in college and never miss a chance to go to a friends house to ride and just love on a horse. I even watch a ladies house who has horses and last spring her paint mare had it's foal 2 days before she had to leave for 2 weeks. I had so much fun spoiling that baby! She still blames me for any bad behavior she has. Anyway yesterday i went to a friends farm to give him some extra tropicals i had and to pick up some guineas. They have about 100 acres and lease it to a guy that raises brood mares to use as wet nurses for the race horse industry. There was about 50 pregnant mares in the field next to the house. I was in heaven. They were so starved for attention. I stayed until dark in the middle of the mares trying to give each a little love. The sad thing is they take the mares foals at about 2 days old and sell them for 100 dollars each so the mares have plenty of milk for the race horses. I guess its a needed industry, but it does not seem fair to the mares to lose their own babies.
