for shade? I have a place by my front door that gets no direct sun. It is bright though. I live in N CA. zone 9 and we get hot hot hot dry summers. Any advice anyone?
I have several out back that are in semi shade, under big trees that bloom good for me. I want something really showy by the front door.

What is the best brug
Hi Linda, I live in Livermore and we also get very hot in the summer. The one that comes to my mind is Golden Lady. I have mine where it get's a little sun from about 11:00 until 2.p.m. and when it blooms it is loaded. However, I think most brug. would like some sun to bloom.
There may be other's that have had good luck with brug in full shade even bright shade, but I really haven't.

Snowbank comes to mind for me. Mine doesn't like any direct sunlight or the white areas turn brown. It's a slow grower. I've had it for two years and it still hasn't "Y"ed. But then I sometimes don't fertilize as I should. With Snowbank, I don't really care if it doesn't as I bought it for its variegated leaves which are gorgeous.
It gets pretty hot here too -- temps in the upper 90's. The ones I have that get shade from 2:00 until dark would be Isabella and Day Break.
Thanks for the reply. I really want to plant a brug there. I have elephant ears, coleus, ground orchids growing in this area and thought a brug would look stunning if I can get one to bloom there. Snowbank is a good idea I love varigated plants.

Grand Marnier does great in shade....mine gets about 2 hours a day max and it did great this year.
Forever Morr did great in the shade (sun from 3:00 pm until sunset) for me. It got really tall before it Y'd and then bloomed several flushes from August until I cut it back last week.

I would love to have cuttings of any of these you guys think would work for my shade problem. If anyone has any to spare.
