i have no answers to any of question u have, but i thought maybe it will help to know about this plant. good luck.
Thanks MaVie. I know about Coptis. I just need the plants to grow in my garden of 300 herbs.
The seeds are available from Horizon Herbs. They may be able to sell you a live plant too, so try calling them.

That's a usefull plant, I would think. I wonder what zone it would grow in? I'll have to check it out.
Ahh. Went back and read the other links. Thanks for the research, MaVieRose. I think it wouldn't work up here in our dry zone 5 or 6 mountains. Darn.
Yeah, Richo from Horizon doesn't have any plants. I've tried seeds before, but had no luck. That's why I want the plants. Ah, well, the search continues.
u're welcome roybird. accdg to my herb book, it is commonly known as Goldthread.
this plant is cultivated in moist to wet, rich, slightly acid soil in shade.
Chinese Goldthread is propagated by seed sown when ripe; or by division in spring.
this plant is hardy in zones 7-10.
