FROST!!

Winamac, IN

I have a Hibiscus, can't remember its name....Kopper King or something, that got frosted one night before I brought it in and transplanted it. Not looking too good, but I was wondering if it might come out of it? It is well established, about 3 1/2' tall. IS THERE HOPE!!!

kopper king is a hardy and deciduous hibiscus....if it is infact a kopper king i wouldn't worry at all

Did you have it in a pot or in the ground? In the ground it would have been fine since they're hardy to zone 5, but being in a pot will effectively knock about a zone off the hardiness. If you're in zone 5 which is the bottom end of the hardiness for these, then if it's in a pot it's probably best off being brought in (or if it's left outside, you'll want to bundle it up with some burlap or insulation of some sort to help keep it a little warmer.)

It was in the ground outside and had this thick weed barrier all around it. I dug it up and brought it in because I couldn't remember what the tag said, and I have three other Hibiscus TREES, that say 'Not below 50 degrees'. I bought them from Home Depot for $2, and they bloom yellow, double orange, and double hot pink. So I though, well, better to be safe than sorry, but now...........If it would have been OK, I probably should have left it in because I have it in this 3 gallon pot and it barely FITS!! Uuuggg!

Your other ones sound like tropicals--they can take temps lower than 50 (mine have gone as low as 30-35) but they definitely wouldn't like your winters! Sounds like you really got yourself a deal on them!
