Rose cuttings

I don't know how, but I managed to miss Melva's class yesterday. So I need some help.

I started a couple of cuttings about two weeks ago, using a method I found online. I just wounded (slit) the stems and then planted them in a plastic bag, in some sand and perlite. They haven't rotted yet, but I didn't see any roots yet, either.

So today I pulled them out to look. They both now have little white knobs at the base, that weren't there last week. Anyone know what that is? Mold? Scar tissue? Root beginnings? What should I be looking for?

It is most likely a callus that forms before the roots, it is a good sign, but don't disturb them a lot or you may injure it.

Oh! That's wonderful. Okay, I'll leave it alone. :) Thanks, Josephine!
