I photographed this ear at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. Can anyone help me identify who he is?
Jackie
ID please?
This looks much like Xanthosoma violaceum, a very pretty form. A friend of mine has a few of these growing in a raised bed; the newly emerging leaves are a nice purple color.

Ooooh, thanks so much, LariAnn! This is such a nice one.
I agree, Kenboy. It is an awesome looking ear.
Yours looks healthy and happy. Does it overwinter outside for you?
Not sure, I just got it this Spring. She has grown like a weed. I gather about 6,000 bags of leaves a year for compost and after it cooks for a year I just cover my yard with it. I have large oak trees and no grass so my yard is one big plant bed.
