I thought everthing was going fine,,,, I've been changing me water everyday, sometimes twice in one day,,,,,, i looked today and it had these brownish/black spots on them,,,,

I purchased it from a well known ebayer that sell brugs,,,,tctopcat1 on oct10

Is there anything I can do to help it root and stop browning,,,,,, I changed cups and rised the cutting off already,,,,,

it looks as if they are already rooting...i would go ahead and pot them up

If the bottom of the cutting is not soft I would pot them up, if they feel soft cut that part off and then pot them up, I have had some that never did good in water, I pot them up and they do great.

I can pot it up with only three little roots?

I generally pot them up when I see the white nubbies. After that, it can be a toss up to whether they send out roots before they begin to rot. Once you have the white nubbies, though, they root very easily in soil.

Jane, pot up your cuttings and then do not over water. Try to keep the potting medium slightly damp...but not drippy wet as that causes rot. I use lots of perlite with pro-mix so there is excellent drainage.

Yep, if you've got rot then you reeeeeally need the drainage. I'd use 1:1 potting soil to perlite, others use 2:1. Use a slender container that's not too big for cutting; bigger pots also encourage rot in cuttings.
I would also cut the brown part off and lightly dust it with cinnamon for an anti-fungal. You can crease a sheet of paper and use it to hold the cinnamon while you gently blow it onto the cut area.
In the future, a much lower water level is a lot less likely to rot. I use 1" max. Also, replacing water every day, in some instances, can actually not be as good. A capful of standardard grocery store type hydrogen peroxide (3%) with each water change can help it to easily last a week or more. I've seen experiments with other plants that showed, with some water systems, that they did less well right after a water change because of the stuff in the water (municipal water systems are slightly poisoned to reduce pathogens, bacteria, etc.)

Those look ready to pot now!!.....and I never change the water.....put em in a jar for about 5 or 6 days....stuff em in a pot of MG potting soil and they take off.....haven't lost one yet....
