Question about Bassett Hounds...

My brother is an idiot and bought a Bassett from a pet store. I would feel better if I knew more about the place it came from. Can anyone can tell me about Northwest Kennels in Sheldon, IA? Personally, I believe in doing a lot of research beforehand, and going to a reputable breeder instead of picking up a puppy because it was on sale for half price! But hopefully someone at DG has heard of this place and by some miracle it is a legitimate operation instead of a puppy mill.

Also, I would appreciate any information I could pass along about the breed and what medical conditions it is prone to.
