yes whites are more common. i have a california sally that is making an inflo, which will be my first bloom, so i guess that makes it my favorite.... i got it from exotic plumeria two years ago this november.

My favorites are whatever is blooming now too; although, I have about 20 favorites for fragrance. Which one you should get next depends upon what you are looking for and what strikes your fancy. It helps greatly to go to a nursery with many in bloom and see for yourself the different types. Things to consider: growth habit, flower size, keeping quality of the flowers, fragrance, reliability of blooming, etc. Dwarfs are nice, but they tend to have small flowers. Some plumerias only have a very soft mild fragrance so, if fragrance is important to you, you will want to select the most fragrant one that you can find.

The Plumeria Society of America is based in Texas, and they have flower shows and sales several times a year where you can see many flowers on display and choose the ones you like best. All are easy to grow and just need to be protected from frost and freezing temps. Here is a link to the PSA: http://www.theplumeriasociety.org/ You can also go to the PlantFiles and browse the pictures there: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/b/Apocynaceae/Plumeria/none/cultivar/0/ and check out Florida Colors web site for more pictures and browse by color: http://www.floridacolors.com/ Some of the ones that are more commonly grown are listed below:

1. Celadine
2. Singapore
3. Kauka Wilder
4. Miami Rose
5. Key West Pink
6. Nebel's Rainbow
7. Dwarf Singapore Pink
8. Cancun Pink
9. Aztec Gold
10. Vera Cruz Rose

...and many others as well. There are many different named varieties that you can purchase, and there are many beautiful unnamed ones as well. My advice is to buy from a reputable seller and stay away from eBay as there are many not-so-reputable sellers on eBay. Florida Colors Nursery is where I purchased most of my collection and is very reputable. However, this is really not the time to buy new plumerias as most sellers have stopped shipping as colder weather approaches. These are tropical trees and need heat most of all to adjust and do well. Spring and summer is usually the best time to acquire new plumerias.
