and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%BAcuma
and
http://www.mundoandino.com/Peru/Lucuma
I have the USDA permit for importing seeds for this plant into the U.S., so if you have the seed outside the U.S. I can provide all the documents for legal shipment . . .
can trade from my short HAVE trading list or make a resonable reimbursement for shipping via payment to your PayPal acct.
CLOSED: Lucuma, Lucmo (Pouteria lucuma, Lucuma obovata)
Hey Lazlo; When I am trying to locate unusual seeds I always check here as they have more than 30,000 plant species or varieties in the worlds most extensive commercial seed catalog. http://www.b-and-t-world-seeds.com/
zebraman . . . thanks for sharing the resource. but alas, using their search i got no result.
Hello LazLo!
Do you think they would survive the lower temperatures of your 8b zone? To be honest, I don't think so.
Lúcumas are grown in certain parts (micro-climates) of my Mediterranean type climate (equivalent to a USA zone9b) and are very frost delicate. It is a quite expensive fruit, because of the very special growing conditions it requires. I think a zone 8b gets far too cold for lúcumas.

Hey Lazlo; Try http://www.tradewindsfruit.com/ They don't always have all seeds available all year.Send them an IM and let them know what you want and info on when they will have them for sale.It is another great place for exotics.Too bad you're not into Exotic's in Fauna, as I have some great sources in TX.-
Ursula ~ then again, there are large greenhouses, yes?
zebraman ~ if i put into writing what i really though about the folks at TradeWindsFruit i probably would have to spend a lot of money with lawyers fending off suits . . . let us just say that my past experience with that "company" (if it is not just an individual seller posing as a company) have left me wanting a different source for my needs.
if you like horror stories, i have a mild one to share - - part of a comment i left for a VERY GOOD supplier, btw: http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/5733/ but illustrative of a person dealing with TWF might feel (just do a Ctrl-F search for 'LazLo'
Hey Lazlo;Good to know as I was getting ready to order from them.Any time I spend searching for a seed source (for someone else, it ends up costing me $$$ with seed purchases that I didn't even know I wanted.
I received an email from Lesley Sleigh (B & T World Seeds) this morning and they are trying to locate these seeds with their Ecuadorean seed supplier. When I hear back I'll let you know.
