Way to go Jan! I am loving the Episcia's! They seem so easy for me ... not like Strep's which really don't do well at all in my house!

Great growing! When that one gets big maybe we can make a trade! I would love a cutting of that one!

(Zone 1)

Now, I had no idea you could just root a leaf of an Episcia!! I thought it had to be the stolon/stem part?! Oh Wow .... here I go a cutting Episcia leaves to stick! LOL.

Wow - I didn't know you could do that and I have one that could sure use some more fullness.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

No secret here threegardeners, just plain AV soil. Are you bagging them when you root them? And not to much water.

LOL Lin,you can trade leaves.I've read in the gessie books if its a rare plant people do trade leaves.

Drumheller, Alberta, Canada(Zone 3a)

If I planted every leaf I pruned off I would have 1000's!!!!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

jannich, you are one lady who can grow! You have so much patience in growing leaves from episcias. This is a good thread with winter coming on and none of us know what to do with our episicas over the cold period....Now we do know what to do.

Great pics

Thank you Gail!
In the spring these babies will have a new home,One will go to you Lin:) I was amazed the kohleria has a rhizone already.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Good morning, jannich

Don't ya' just love those rhizomes? Remember the rhizomes I found in the soil of 'Laura', the small Kohleria that Snow sent me? We all ooohed and aahed over how quickly she was coming up. Well, the short of it is only one Kohleria is actually growing.....the rest were weeds!

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

lol gail! I thought I was the only one that grew weeds even after I sterlized the soil.

(Zone 1)

I don't sterilize my soil, so I grow weeds and sometimes little mushrooms too! LOL.
