Here it is with its wings closed, it sat there and let me spread them open so we could see the under wings.

Aren't they cool? Are you growing morning glories? :) We've been enjoying ours, putting our hands underneath them while they are nectaring, and it's amazing the breeze the emit from their wings!

We do have morning glories and also datura.

Wooohooo, I've all those plants mentioned. Maybe I can get to see this beauty someday soon. Thanks for sharing the pics. Frostweed.
All I've seen out in my garden today are some longtail, somthing, something butterfly, and a few G.F. No Monarch or Moths lately as the weather is cooling down. Sun shine currently, so those few butterflies are still lingering, I'm so glad.

Thank you everybody, I was amazed at the designs on the underwings.

frostweed - What a Monster!!! ( I mean it's a real BIG guy )
Such pretty colors, and how they blend in to each color.
Thanks for sharing.

Yes, it was really big, I noticed because my cat kept staring at the sliding door, so I looked to see what she was staring at, and there it was.
It was at least 4 inches across with the wings spread.
Josephine.
