Hi everyone,
I don't get around to posting on here much, but I do lurk around every day and know several of you. I have a crazy story to tell.....
I did a trade for some Brug. cuttings several years ago. I think it was about 2 years, but it could possibly have been longer. My greenhouse & basement were so full of plants at the time and somehow after the cuttings arrived I "lost" them. I figured I must have accidentally threw them away with the packing materials.
Lo and behold.....I was digging around in the basement today and to my great surprise I found the long, lost Ziplock back in a box full of painting supplies. Guess it fell off my workbench, lol!! I was beyond amazed to see that the bag had green growth in it! Most of the cuttings were long gone, but there was a nice little sprout coming off of one. I immediately cut it off and potted it up. The tag was so wet & brown that I couldn't read the name but I let it dry out in hopes of being able to read it later.
I will try to take a pic and hopefully figure out "who" that little cutting is.
That Ziplock was sealed so dang tight....I really can't believe anything would survive years in there.
Amazing! I always knew Brugs were phenomenal plants, but this is just unbelievable. : )

Brug survives 2+ years in sealed plastic ziplock bag!!!
That's amazing! Hope the little fella lives too :-)
chrissy100,
I normally send my Brug. cuttings with the cut end wrapped in a damp paper towel then wrap that end with plastic to seal. I've never sent cuttings completely zipped up in a bag for fear that they would rot. Obviously that wasn't the case with my little surviving cutting....but i'd recommend leaving the uncut end exposed.
Everyone does it a little differently.
That is amazing!
Hi Dawn,
Now I have seen it all, You know I love Brugs, But I am thinking you love them a BIT more than I, See your even a wonderful mommy to a poor 3/4 dead stick, I sure hope your little fella lives too. I will be sending you a personal E-mail soon, need to explain something to you. I looked on your member page this morning & you have Axlerose Brug too, is that the name or is it just what you call it cuz it came from Sue? I need to get a real name on mine. Hey maybe if you whisper to your Brug, oh never mind that only works for babies..:)Anita
What a great story ,the little brug that could!
What a cute story! I think he really wants to live, keep us updated :)..
edited to say: I was just thinking that maybe you should give it a little humidity somehow because if it has been in a bag for 2 yrs it might be quite a shock to be in the drier air? (just a thought)

Pretty cool Dawn!!!
wow that is fantastic i hope it lives for you..........
Well, so far so good. I figured humidity could have been an issue too, so I put it under a glass cloche and will just take it off for longer periods of time very gradually. Still can't figure out what the tag says though. Maybe if I had a magnifying glass. I'll keep you all posted. : )
Dawn,
Can you tell how many letters the name has?
WE in a name, we can find out his name I bet:)Anita
Brug name game !!Anita I love it.You can name that in...:*)
Weise Pousane perhaps?
Good guess mistressgardenr! I can't remember if I had traded for that one or not??? I'm going to try and see if I can read it better today.
If the little fella' survives, and if we can identify him, whoever guesses his name correctly wins a cutting when the time comes. : )
Anita, I can't tell. It's not actually a tag, but a piece of masking tape (I think) that was wrapped around the cutting. If only I could peel it off without tearing it.
