I was given a nice cutting of pink princess. Should I root it in water or dirt? I usually root most of my climbing philos in water but this one is new to me. Don't wanna mess it up so which is better? Thanks
Rooting Pink Princess Philo
I would think Jeri would probably be the one on this forum to answer that question, she will probably be along in a while.
Good luck with it though.

personally I prefer to do it in potting soil so not to tramatize during the transition from water to soil. i dont have as much luck doing it that way.
I agree. This philo does best rooting in soil. In water it will just rot. Have had mine for two years and have rooted a few cuttings in soil. Not an expert. Just my experience.
It sounds like soil is the way to go. I had it in water until I could figure out what I should do lol, but I will pot her up today. Thanks so much!
It shouldn't rot in water as long as you keep the water fresh - or even fresh"ish". But, like others have said, it's easy enough to just root them in soil. Just don't keep them too wet - they will rot in soil if too wet! Just slightly moist, and it can even dry a little between waterings. That's not necessarily preferable, but it's better than them staying too wet.
Thanks Carter. I will add some perlite to the mix and watch the watering.
