Hi everyone. There's a lady (non subscriber) who dmailed me asking what to do about fungus gnats with her peace lily. I directed her to the Beginner Houseplant forum and no one has replied to her question so I thought I would ask here to see if anyone has suggestions for her. I thought I remembered on this forum sometime last year where folks were discussing fungus gnats and what to do to get rid of them?
Any help to her would really be appreciated! Thanks!

Anyone ever have problems with fungus gnats?
Well I didn't have many and had bought some of those yellow sticky papers and that caught a few of them but I still had a few so I bought some of those hedge apples that we had a thread on awhile back. Starfly said her family had used them for years and they worked for all kinds of bugs and varmints. Well after about a week of sticking the ones I bought about my house and on my plant stands I can honestly say I have not seen a fungus gnat since?? We usually get a lot of spiders coming in the house this time of year and I'm watching to see if they keep them away. I have a friend who is using them to keep mice out of her garage! I'll have to report back in when we see how that goes???
Interesting...I also read to water all your plants with 4 ounces of hydrogen peroxide mixed in with a gallon of water and it will kill the larvae in your plants and if you do it for a month or 6 weeks you'll eventually be rid of the annoying little critters as no more will hatch!!

Thanks Brenda for answering, but the lady who has bee asking is not a subscriber so she can't see this post. Unsubscribers are limited to what forums they can view and this AV/Gessie forum is one she cannot access. I will go back and tell her about the hedge apples.
Lin, i finally put up two yellow cards on each gro light stand and it seems to be working for me....................that was about a month ago and i don't see them anymore........but the yellow sticky cards have about 1/5 th full of gnats..............
Hi Gail: Could you post your info regarding your use of those yellow sticky cards over on the beginner house plant thread that I linked to above? This is a lady who is not a paid subscriber so she can't access this forum to hear everyone's comments.
