When searching for an instructor, what do you HAVE to have? By this, I mean what feature, quality, behavior, must the person have to make the short-list?

Additinally, what thing must they NOT do, NOT have, or NOT be?

I'm curious what everyone looks for, since I will be in the market for a new one temporarily, and want to have a good list in mind before I start driving all over the place. :)
