My newest little Brugmansia is about to send out thousands of seeds. I can't imagine throwing them away, but I do not have room for this many new plants. Any takers?
Brugmansia seeds
Hi,
I'd love to try my hand with some seeds!
Let me know what you need....thanks, lynda
Sue,
I'd love some also.
Alice
yes I do what kind of Brugmansia is it?
Yes, I would love to try seeds. Something to do in those long winter months when I can't be outside.
I am new to brugs and haven't even seen a bloom yet, but have fallen in love with them.
Joyce
i would love some seeds please
Just wondering why you are giving away seeds from what looks to be possibly a morning glory, on the brug forum.
There are no brugs with blue or purple on them. You will find some datura that have some blue or purple hues, but I don't believe this is a datura, either. The foliage looks like MG to me. JMO
I agree.
Leaf looks like a Morning Glory. Have never seen a leaf shaped like this on a Brug or a Datura. There are purple/white Datura, but never that color in Brugmansia.
Sorry, hope this doesn't disappoint all of you.
i like morning glories too :-)
Well Brugie and Hibiscus you beat me to it, that is my opinion also, definately NOT a Brugmansia
yeah i know it is a morning glory thats what I thought anyway........... still want some......lol
wouldn't be cool to have a vining brug!?
LOL that is to funny...........
Problem is you are confusing newbies thinking this is a Brugmansia when it is not, and they know nothing about them yet.
Seems to me the issue has been resolved: This is not a brug., flower clearly looks like a Morning Glory, all newbies have been alerted, so let's not run off a new member to the forum with overkill.
Sue, post your generous offer of seeds to another forum. I am not familiar enough with the various forums to advise which one, although there probably is one on Vines. Due to time constraints, I have to limit my time on DG to a very few.

Actually, there is purple coming out from the center of the Brug. I suppose it could be a Datura, but it is definitely not a Morning Glory. LS
I have to admit I swiped this photo from the Internet and did not check to see if the leaves matched my plant, but the flower is very similar. The more I look at this flower, it does look like a morning glory. My Brug has stopped flowering, but, as I said, did have purple coming out from the center of the flower.
Can you take a picture of the seed pods and post it. That will help to identify what you have. Besides, I'm curious now. LOL!
I would love to have some of the seeds, even if it is a morning glory. I don't have one like that. But I really hope that it is a brug.
What you have is probably a Datura discolor (Desert Thorn Apple).

The seed pods of Datura discolor should help in deciding if you have this Datura, Sue, as they are very distinctive. Also, note the scalloped leaves on the Datura...do your leaves look the same?
Tussee
well that is a datura for sure i would love to get some of the seeds.....
I too trust this newby,
I would love to try some of your seeds, let me know what you need for them, is this a SASE or do you want to trade something? Check my list.
Fran
Definitely a datura. That first picture was pretty misleading with the MG vine behind it. LOL! I'm glad you know what you have now. Thanks snowhermit, for clearing it all up.

Bingo!

So many people have been asking that, just to keep me organized, it would be helpful if you would send SASE to me -- As you can see, some of the pods are still maturing. We are expecting a freeze tonight. Should I pick the pods now or will they continue to mature? Thanks.

Datura do not live through winter. The whole plant will freeze and the pods also. If you pick off the pods ow I do not think they will mature. The only thing I think you could try is to dig up the plant and put it inside where it will stay warm and light enough for it to mature the pods. Usually a datura is considered an annual since it cannot survive winter and it is so easy to grow to a large plant from seed.
Hopefully someone can tell you more information than I can....
That one looks like it's about to pop open.. pretty mature even the one pod will have a whole bunch of seeds so depending on how many you planned to send out I would think you would be good
OK -- I harvested the pod that started to open and covered the plant for tonight. Thanks.
lucky sue, if your plant doesn't freeze tonight, you can take cuttings to root. I would be happy to get seed or cuttings if it survives the freeze. I will send SASE if you have enough see or cuttings. I would really prefer a cutting. I am rooting some and they seem pretty easy. Mine are doing well, but I don't have one the color of yours.
If you are sending SASE, a 41-cent stamp is sufficient. The seeds are very small.
About taking a cutting, the plant is about 1.5 feet tall and has just 3 leaves, so I would rather just send seeds.
I would love to have some if you have any left. :) Misty
There are still plenty of seeds. I've not received any SASEs yet. LS
i know i'm kind of late in responding but i would love some seed. what do i do?
