I'm moving all of my Philo's, Anthuriums and Syngoniums to the greenhouse. What is the lowest temperature I can keep them at for the winter? Thanks.
What temperature?
That depends on whether you want them to grow or just maintain "in stasis" until spring. If you are just maintaining, you can let it go down to 60, but if you want to grow, the temp needs to be above 70 at night and above 80 in the day. Also, the other factor is if you have extra sensitive species; some Anthuriums and Philos will suffer if temps go just into the 50s.
Thanks so much, LariAnn. I sure don't want to lose any of them. I thought keeping them in the greenhouse with other plants would have more humidity than in the house with dry heat over the winter.
Would the King and Queen Anthuriums like going in the 50's in the greenhouse? I could bring them in the house if they would do better. Thanks
They prefer the humidity but not the lower temps, but they can handle it. They just won't be doing much growing when temps are that cool. If you can see your way to keeping the GH a little warmer, so much the better. I don't think you'll lose them so long as you don't keep their media too wet. When cool, the media should be kept drier but still with the humidity up.
Thanks for the info!
