I have a Meyer Lemon tree that I would like to put in the ground. It has been a pot for about 3 to 4 years now. It is getting too tall and too heavy to move back and forth from the garage. I have a friend who has her's planted on the southside of her house for about 5 years now and it is doing great. When would be a good time to put this tree in the ground? Generally the fall is the ideal time to plant/move trees and shrubs. I live in Austin, TX. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Charles
Meyer Lemon Tree
Fall is usually the best time, but it depends on whether it's going to be reliably hardy in your zone or just marginal. I don't know what zone you're in and I don't know exactly what zone Meyer lemon is hardy to, but I have a feeling you're probably close to the cold end of its range. If it's going to be borderline hardy, I would wait until spring, but if it's going to be reliably hardy for you then fall is probably better.
